Introducing Dr Robert A. Bartosh

Dr. Robert Bartosh

Growing up, Dr. Bartosh enjoyed good health until he began experiencing severe headaches coupled with sharp, stabbing pains in his upper and lower back a few months after literally being run over by an auto in a most bizarre accident.  After a high school track meet, he and a few friends stopped for a soda at a local restaurant and while sitting sideways in a booth with his back leaning against a large window, an out-of-control auto ran up over the sidewalk crashing through the front of the building and up over the booth eventually coming to rest with Dr. Bartosh pinned beneath.  Nearly an hour and a half was needed to free Dr. Bartosh from beneath the vehicle.  In the emergency room he was given a clean bill of health and released "having no apparent injuries".  A few months later however, the terrible headaches and back pains began.  Numerous visits to all kinds of specialists ended with the same conclusion; "We can find nothing wrong, and as for the pains, you'll just have to learn to live with them".  One of Dr. Bartoshs' uncles suggested he see his chiropractor who had helped him eliminate his headaches.  Not only did the chiropractor find the cause of the headaches and back pains (misaligned bones of the spine putting pressure on various nerves) but he also encouraged Dr. Bartosh to consider becoming a chiropractor.  Well, the rest as they say is history and Dr. Bartosh admits that what he experienced helps him appreciate what his patients may be going through and is now dedicated to helping as many others as he can through chiropractic.

A graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, an avid learner and self-described "professional student", Dr. Bartosh has remained actively involved in obtaining post-graduate education and certifications including applied kinesiology, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, personal training, functional and sports nutrition, Active Release Technique*, extremity adjusting, kinesio taping, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy , Cold Laser Therapy, Chelation therapy, and for his "four-legged patients", veterinary orthopedic manipulation and animal chiropractic. (More information regarding some of these services can be obtained on our "Links" page.)

Providing care to athletes also keeps him quite busy. Dr. Bartosh served as the chiropractor and nutritionist for the "Danville Wings" hockey team during their tenure and has served the Danville Area Community College for eight years as their "Team Physician" providing care for the college's nine teams which include; Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, Women's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Track and Cross Country Teams, Men's Baseball and Women's Softball, and the Soccer and Golf Teams. He is currently the team physicican for the Eastern Illinois University Panthers Hockey team.  Dr. Bartosh and his daughter Alysha, who holds certifications in fitness training, sports conditioning, and performance nutrition, are invited each year to Europe to work with up and coming Czech and Slovak hockey players as well as those from the European Elite and National Hockey Leagues.

Dr. Bartosh has been affiliated with the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the International Federation of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Athletic Association, the American Running Association for which he serves as a clinical adviser, the American Chiropractic Association, the International Chiropractic Association, and their Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science for which he is an editorial adviser.
